NEW DELHI: The Aviation Ministry said that there is no other way to but to reduce the length of runway at Karipur Airport. The center explained that as Kerala has not still responded to the development of Runway End Safety Area (RESA), there is no other way other than reducing the length of the runway. The ministry was responding to the question of Abdusamad MP in the Parliament.
This decision is taken for the sake of the passengers’ safety. The ministry made it clear that the length of the runway is being reduced so as to build the RESA at the end of the runway strip.
Meanwhile, the Abdusamad MP said that the issue at the Karipur Airport had been solved. The government had said that RESA could be developed without cutting the length of the runway. The MP said that the question he asked the written question one month ago and this reply did not include that.
