THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Some crucial information has surfaced in the incident of hacking to death a middle-aged-woman. The dead is Sindhu (50) of Nanniyode. The police had arrested Rajesh (46), her live-in partner of Pathanapuram.

Sindhu had called her sister in the morning saying that Rajesh is following her in the bus. She called her sister just before she was attacked. Sindhu and Rajesh were childhood friends. Rajesh lived with his family in the staff quarters while his mother was working at the Veterinary Biological Institute in Palode.

Sindhu's family was in Ponkuzhi near the quarters. Sindhu later shifted to a rented house in Nandiyode.

Sindhu’s husband deserted her a few years after marriage. She raised her daughter working as a maid and a caretaker. The two started living together 12 years ago. Rajesh, who had a wife and children, started living with Sindhu in a rented house.

Sindhu was a home nurse at a doctor's house in Thiruvananthapuram for ten years. This family helped her to get her daughter married. When the patient died, she lost her job. Rajesh started harassing her when her income stopped. However, she did not inform anybody about the harassment.

Sindhu's relatives said that she had helped Rajesh financially and even used to borrow money for him to start a business and to buy an auto. Sindhu started a juice shop in Palode Plavara as a means of livelihood but had to close it two months ago.

When Sindhu failed to pay the rent continuously, the house owner informed her daughter. Her daughter and sister came home and took Sindhu to her sister's house. The accused followed Sindhu and asked her not to withdraw from the relationship, but when she refused, he killed her.
