KUALA LUMPUR: As per reports, the death toll from a landslide at a tourist camp near the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur has risen to 13. More than 90 people had been camped at a farm site on the side of a road. So far, 53 people have been rescued.

But the Malaysian National Disaster Management Agency said more people are trapped underground. The landslide fell from an estimated height of 30 metres (100 ft) above the campsite. The disaster took place near the popular hilltop area of Genting Highlands. An investigation has been launched into the cause of the accident.

The occurrence of such a strong landslide surprised the local residents as there were no reports of rain or earthquake in the area. One section suggests that encroachment of forest land has led to these problems.
