ALAPPUZHA: After registering a case against a MLA and his wife allegedly calling out a woman leader's caste, the police have also registered a case against the complainant. The police have registered a case against Jisha, the district president of NCP women's wing, who filed a complaint that Kuttanad MLA Thomas K Thomas used casteist remarks against her. The case is for insulting the MLA and his wife. The MLA had lodged a complaint with the district police chief alleging that a woman who had come to the meeting had tried to insult them.

The incident related to the case took place on December 9 during the Haripad party meeting. The woman leader complained that Thomas K Thomas and his wife Shirley Thomas abused her. The problems started when Jisha asked what's MLA's wife doing at the party meeting. Then there was an argument between Jisha and Shirley. Jisha alleged that the party workers intervened and resolved the issue, but later the MLA and her wife called out caste names.

According to Jisha's statement, the MLA pushed her on the shoulder and said that castes like you are not wanted in the party. "When he was about to hit me, others stopped him. Shirley Thomas abused me on the basis of color. Meanwhile, the MLA also spoke in defense of his wife. The MLA had verbally abused before the meeting", Jisha said in her statement. On Jisha's complaint, a case has been registered against the MLA and his wife under the Scheduled Castes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
