THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A rare incident unfolded centered around a government institution when the main accused Divya Jyoti (Divya Nair) was arrested in the Titanium job farud. She confessed to the police that she had extorted Rs 1.5 crores from several people by promising them permanent jobs in the Travancore Titanium Products (TTP). It is known that many people became victims to this scam. The police believe that more people will come forward with complaints in the coming days.
The police say that the fraud methods of the group were very convincing. Sasikumaran Thampi, General Manager (Legal) of TTP, conducted interviews in his cabin which tempted the candidates to pay money. The condition of the fraud group was that half of the amount must be paid initially and the rest after the interview.
The first step in the scam is when Divya Jyoti posts on various Facebook groups about vacancies in TTP along with her phone number. The deal will be fixed with the callers. As soon as half of the money reaches Divya's bank account, her husband Rajesh, Sasikumaran Thampi, his classmate Shyamlal and his friend Premkumar intervenes.
Shyamlal takes the candidates for the interview. As soon as the candidate gets into the car, they will be asked to switch off the mobile phone. In the interview, Sasikumaran Thampi will explain about the job and promotion possibilities and establishes trust. It is also promised that they will get the appointment order within 15 days. Then the gang extorts the remaining money as well, says police.
