THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police have intensified their search for the accused in the job scam in Travancore Titanium. The Venjaramood police will file an application in the court today demanding the custody of the first accused, Divya Jyothi, who was arrested the other day.
Divya has admitted that she took Rs 1.5 crore from many people. The money was received from the candidates through their bank accounts. Other accused in the case are Divya's husband Rajesh, Sasikumaran Thambi, General Manager (Legal) of Titanium who conducted the interview, his classmate Shyamlal of Kumaramangalam Bungalow in Manacaud's Thottam, and her friend Premkumar who lives near Thirumala Vijayamohini Mill. The police informed that they are absconding.
A woman from Pirapankodu filed a complaint with the police alleging that she was cheated of Rs 14 lakhs in 2020 by promising a permanent job as a chemist. On the 22nd of last month, the Venjaramood police had registered an FIR but the investigation was dragging on.
The Venjaramood police has speeded up the investigation after the Cantonment Police registered a case on the complaint of a Kottakkam woman that she had been scammed Rs 10 lakh.
The Cantonment Police registered a case on October 6, but the complainant filed a complaint with the City Police Commissioner alleging that the investigation was ineffective and efforts were being made to destroy the evidence. The investigation was then handed over to a special team headed by Poojappura SI. Divya Jyothi had secured anticipatory bail in the cantonment case. Divya did not seek anticipatory bail in the Venjaramoodu case as she thought that there would be no effective investigation. Meanwhile, the investigating officers informed that more complaints are likely to come today.
