warship

BANGKOK: A warship of Thailand named ‘Sukhothai’ has sunk in the Gulf of Thailand with 106 personnel on board. While seventy-five persons have been saved, efforts are going on to save thirty-one crew members who are still trapped in the ship.

It is believed that the ship’s electric system malfunctioned in the severe weather, which resulted in the accident. Spokesperson for Thailand Navy said that three warships and several helicopters have been pressed into the rescue service. The US-made warship has been in service for Thailand’s Navy since 1987.
