THIRUVANANTHPARUAM: Human Rights Commission Chairman, Justice Anthony Dominic, has sought a report from the Social Justice Department about the actions taken in the case where 250 patients abandoned by their relatives in various government hospitals.

Many of these patients have been in the hospitals for months. There are even retired government employees among them. This is causing a serious problem in the already over crowded government hospitals without enough space. There are about ten thousand cases, where children are not taking care of their parents.

Though there are laws for the elderly these are not useful. Reports say that Kerala is the state with most number of centers for old people.

The Commission took the case suo motto after a daily published a report about it. Further actions will be taken once the report is submitted.
