NEW DELHI: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has come out against edtech company Byju’s. The commission criticized the activities of the company. They clarified that Byju’s is allegedly buying phone numbers of children and their parents and threatening them that their future will be ruined if they don’t join their courses. The NCPCR also stated that they will prepare a report based on this if required and submit it to the Central government.
It is reported that the Commission is receiving several complaints regarding this. The Commission had earlier stated that under Sections 13 and 14 of the CPCR Act of 2005, involving parents or children in loan-based contracts or exploiting them is against the welfare of children. The NCPR has also directed Byju’s to submit all documents in this regard.
