THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: High administrative costs and financial crisis have stalled the merger of Kshema Nidhi Boards. In 2020, the CM announced that the 16 Kshema Nidhi boards will be merged to make it 11. The sub-committee including labor commission president and the trade union representatives submitted a report concerning the lowering of the number of board after ensuring the welfare of laborers.
The decision for merger was taken after that. Laws were decided to be formulated to make the merger possible. However, the government has not received the study report detailing how the merger must be done.
A committee was formed at the labor Commissionerate to submit a report about the merger. The delay in submitting the report is due to the concerns in stopping and continuing the benefits given to laborers when the boards are merged.
Each board has different pay scale for its employees and different amounts of benefits are given by each boards. As there is so much complexities involved the report will be submitted only after expert opinion.
