KOTTARAKKARA: An engineering graduate was arrested for extorting money by ensuring a job. Balasubramanyan (47), a resident of Adugodi, Bengaluru, was arrested by the Kollam Rural Cyber Crime Unit on the complaint of a resident of Chengamanadu, Kottarakkara.

The scam was done under the guise of a data entry job. Candidates were asked for UPI ID for salary and were made to upload photo and signature on a fake website. Then he asked for Rs 50000 as software charge, credit score enhancement and legal charge in order to get salary. After sending the money, it was realized that it was a fraud. Then a complaint was lodged with the Kollam Rural SP. It has been found that 30 people have already been scammed.
