THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A three-day CPM state leadership meetings will begin today. The state committee will be convened today and tomorrow and the state secretariat on Friday.

The CPM is convening the meet while a protest is staged against the government in buffer zone. CPM state secretary M V Govindan's pro-League remarks are likely to be discussed in the meeting. It is indicated that the state committee will consider the trade union document, which was postponed last time. The document is being introduced with the intention of bringing regulation to the trade unions to improve the business-friendly environment.

Meantime, the government is towards a consensus on the buffer zone issue. A decision was taken in the high-level meeting called by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to publish the map after completely excluding population centers. It was decided in the meeting to seek respite in the Supreme Court and to hold a meeting of the presidents of the concerned panchayats in the presence of the ministers.

The chief minister's immediate intervention to save the government's face came when the Congress and various organizations decided to intensify the strike on the buffer zone issue, where Christian churches are intensifying their protest similar to the Vizhinjam protests.
