The new announcement comes after a majority of people voted against an opinion poll conducted by Musk asking whether he should step down as head of Twitter. After the acquisition of Twitter, Elon Musk, who implemented mass layoffs, introduced new policies and features to the displeasure of many users which urged him to do an opinion poll.

Musk has also said that he will accept the result of the vote on whether he should step down as the head of Twitter. More than 17 million people responded to the question with two options, 'Yes' and 'No'. 57.5 percent of those who participated in the poll expressed the opinion that Musk should not continue in his position. Only 42.5 percent votes were received in favour of him.
