THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A lorry laden with cement ran over a minor boy. Emmanuel, a third-class boy of Poovachal UP School sustained serious injuries in the accident. The accident happened in front of his school Wednesday morning at 8.45 am.

The lorry KL 03 L 8155 ran over the boy, who was on his way to the school. The front tyre on the right side of the vehicle ran over the boy. Rescue operations were jointly conducted by the locals and parents who came to leave their children to school. The car which came that way stopped and took the boy to a private hospital in Kattakkada.

The passengers of the car intervened on time after understanding the delay in the arrival of Ambulance 108 as they have services only in Maniyara Vila and Vellanadu. As the injuries were serious, first aid was given in the hospital and then he was referred to the medical college. The police took the lorry driver into custody.
