NEW DELHI: Covid is spreading in many countries including China. India too has stepped up its preventive measures on reports that a variant of Covid Omicron BF-7 is spreading. The central government has given guidelines to the states to implement Covid protocols.

BF-7 is sub-category of Omicron BA-5. A WhatsApp message is being spread claiming that the variant is five time more virulent and that the mortality rate is higher.

However, the central government has come forward saying that this WhatsApp message is fake. The government has tweeted that the message is fake with the screenshot of that message. The government said not to trust the message that is being circulated widely in many WhatsApp groups.
