KOCHI: The High Court has settled plea of medical college students regarding curfew in women's hostels. The warden’s permission is needed to go to campus from hostel after 9.30 pm. But as per the court order, the students require the permission of the guardians to leave the hostel for other purposes.
The petition was heard by the single bench of Justice Devan Ramachandran. The court disposed of the petition by recording the government's stance. The court also appreciated that the petitioners have inspired for a new way of thinking.
The High Court had earlier directed medical college principals to strictly implement the new order issued by Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) regarding time restriction. Many references in the affidavit filed by the KUHS on the issue were controversial.
In an affidavit filed in the court, the university argued that people attain maturity at the age of 25 and whatever they say before this age could not be accepted.
