THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday said there has been a reduction in custodial tortures in the state. Inaugurating the state conference of the Kerala Police Pensioners Association, the CM said that the CBI will investigate if such action takes place again.

The Chief Minister added that there is no need for criminals in the police force and that the government has no confusion regarding its approach to officials who tarnish the reputation of the police force.

"In earlier days, the police used to treat even the elderly with contempt. At that time, the police station was a place to be feared. Now, things have changed. At present, Kerala Police has made several achievements that it can be proud of. Professionals, including M Tech graduates, are joining the force today. Kerala Police is exemplary in maintaining law and order," the CM said.
