THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It has been criticised in the CPM state committee meeting that the wrong and misguided tendencies in the party are getting stronger at the grassroots level. Many people said that the allegations levelled against some of the office bearers of student and youth organizations in the Thiruvananthapuram district in recent days have tarnished the image of the party. The CPM state committee meeting came to an end yesterday.
Many people pointed out that the misguided behaviour of activists should not be tolerated when the government is campaigning against drug addiction. The district leadership should seriously examine and correct such allegations. The Thiruvananthapuram district committee, which has received several criticisms, will meet on January 7 and 8 in the presence of CPM state secretary MV Govindan. Corrective measures will be taken in this meeting. Five state secretariat members will participate in the meeting.
The leaders raised the criticism in the state committee meeting by bringing up various untoward instances involving DYFI leaders that happened in Thiruvananthapuram in recent days. The meeting adopted a firm no-compromise stance. According to the committee's assessment, some of the leaders and ranks are forgetting their obligations to the party.
The allegations from Thiruvananthapuram seem to support the claim that drug usage is increasing among party workers, particularly among youth. It is in this context that the party discussed the new rectification document yesterday.
