NEW DELHI: Malayalam’s favorite writer, C Radhakrishnan, gets distinguished membership of Kendra Sahitya Akademi. This is an honor bestowed upon India’s senior writers. MT Vasudevan Nair is the only other writer from Malayalam to receive this honor.

In addition, KP Ramanunni, S Mahadevan and Vijayalakshmi have been selected to the Akademi council.

M Thomas Mathew received the Akademi’s award of Rs.1 lakh for literary criticism. He received the award for his work ‘ Ashante Seethayanam’.

Award for the best translation work was won by Chathanath Achuthanunni. He won the award for translating the Sanskrit work of Vamanacharyan.
