NEW DELHI: The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha have been adjourned for an indefinite period, cutting short the winter session of Parliament. The meeting was cut short and the congregation broke up a week earlier than previously scheduled. This is as per the recommendation of the Advisory Committee of Parliament headed by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

Various parties had already demanded that the assembly session should be cut short as Christmas and New Year are close. This time, the conference has seen a constant battle between the ruling and the opposition on various issues. Instead of the usual November, the winter session started on December 7 this time. After the news of the India-China military clash in Arunachal came out, the opposition raised this issue and created an uproar in the House.

In the Rajya Sabha today, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar adjourned the House and spoke about the importance of preventing the spread of Covid. Opposition leader and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge demanded that the entire country should know about the incident.
