GANGTOK: 16 soldiers of the Indian Army was killed in an accident involving an Army truck in Zema, North Sikkim. The mishap occurred when a truck skidded down a steep slope as it was on its way to Thangu. The identity of the deceased has not been released.
Four people were injured in the accident. They were taken to the hospital by helicopter. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh expressed his dismay at the incident and extended his condolences to the kin of the deceased.
