THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CBI has stated that there is no evidence against Congress leader KC Venugopal in the solar sexual assault case. In its final report to the Thiruvananthapuram CJM Court, the probe team stated that there was not enough evidence to support the complainant's allegations of sexual assault. The complaint alleged had that the former Union Minister had molested her three times in May 2012.
It was the crime branch which initially conducted an investigation on the complaint that KC Venugopal had taken the complainant to the residence of the then tourism minister AP Anil Kumar during that period and sexually assaulted her. The investigation was later handed over to the CBI during the term of the first Pinarayi government.
The probe team had recorded the statement of the complainant three times and carried out scientific tests. The complainant had revealed to the media that she had handed over digital evidence and the clothes allegedly worn by Venugopal during the time of torture to the investigation team.
