IDUKKI: Seven people have died after a vehicle carrying Sabarimala pilgrims overturned and fell into a gorge. Two people were seriously injured. It is reported that the death toll may rise further. The accident took place at around 11 pm. The vehicle carrying pilgrims from Tamil Nadu was travelling on the Kumily-Kambam road when it overturned into the gorge.
There were nine people in the vehicle, including a child. Two injured people have been admitted to a hospital in Kumily. It is believed that three people are still trapped in the vehicle. The rescue operation to get them out of the vehicle is in progress. Police and the fire force have reached the spot. Idukki District Collector is in charge of coordinating the rescue operation.
