THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The local bodies have come together to join party in the buffer zone case at the Supreme Court. Several local bodies have given the application to the government seeking permission. The clear number of these applications is not clear. The government is examining the legal side of this.

The number of the complaints received related to buffer zone have crossed thirty thousand. Majority of these complaints were sent through email. The survey number of the areas that comes under buffer zone will be published on 28th. The number of complaints might double by that time.

As per the SC directions on June 3, the government conducted satellite survey. However, this map was not published nor the field survey conducted. No evidence was gathered. This led to total concern and panicking throughout the high range. Rumors were spread that the announcement of buffer zone will be taken arbitrarily. Fears of mass evacuation were also spread.

In a bid to win the confidence of the people the government published the map of the buffer zone on Wednesday. The government announced that the survey number will be published soon.

Taking into consideration the fears of the people, help desks have been opened yesterday at Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Kollam, and Thiruvananthapuram. Today help desks will be opened at Kottayam, Idukki, and Pathanamthitta districts. Those where the help desks are not opened, mobile help desks units will be opened and announcements will be made there.

Meanwhile, the proceedings to avoid populated areas being included in the environmental sensitive areas, will take time.
