KOCHI: Clashes erupted again at St. Mary's Cathedral Basilica in Ernakulam following dispute regarding a mass. During the conflict, the lights of the church were broken. The altar was pushed aside, and both sides pushed and shoved each other. The police came and expelled people, including the priests, from the church.

Two types of mass were held simultaneously in the church today. The rebel faction was holding a public mass as a sign of protest while the new administrator Antony Puthuvelil conducted a united mass. Believers from both sects participated in both masses.

Both sides protested with boos and shouts of go back. The protestors stopped Bishop Andrews, who was coming to offer mass. The protesters locked the gate of the mosque. They have informed that mass will be held till Christmas day. The section demanding a unified mass continues outside the church.
