DISPUR: A ten-month old baby has been kidnapped after killing the mother. The incident is reported in Assam. Nitumoni Lukhurakhon of Kenduguri Bailung village is the deceased. Four people including Nitumoni's mother were arrested in the incident. The other accused are a couple and their son. The police said that the accused killed the woman and abducted the child to give it to their daughter who is childless.

The woman and the baby have been missing since last Monday. The next morning, the woman's body was recovered from a drain in the Rajabari tea estate in Charaideo district. After the investigation, the baby was found and rescued from the inter-state bus terminus in Jorhat. Pranali Gogoi, her husband Basanta Gogoi, son Prashanta Gogoi and Nitumoni's mother Bobby Lukhurakhon were arrested.

The accused kidanapped the woman and the baby. The police said that the mother resisted the attempt to snatch the baby so she was attacked with a sharp weapon. The police also stated that it was a pre-planned murder.

The couple’s plan was to hand over the baby to their daughter living in Himachal. The police rescued the baby from Prashanta Gogo in the train while they were trying to escape. All the four accused are currently in police custody.
