NEW DELHI: Actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam leader Kamal Haasan has joined the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by former AICC President Rahul Gandhi. Kamal Haasan attended the conference held at the Red Fort. He also participated in a three-and-a-half kilometer Jodo Yatra with Rahul.
"'I'm not participating in the program not for politics, but for the country. It is time to unite the country," Kamal Haasan said.
Notably, Kamal Haasan participated in the Jodo Yatra while he is making moves to join the Congress-DMK alliance in Tamil Nadu. Sonia Gandhi and AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi attended the yatra this morning. Leaders like Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, Jairam Ramesh, Pawan Khera, Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Randeep Surjewala also joined the yatra.
The central government had earlier asked to stop the Bharat Jodo Yatra in the context of the rising concern regarding Covid in the country. However, the Congress alleged that the BJP was trying to sabotage the Yatra in the name of Covid.
