THRISSUR: Rahil (28), of Vadakkepura house in Thikkodi in Kozhikode, who was accused in many cases of cheating jewellery employees and stealing gold coins, was arrested by the city shadow police led by commissioner Ankit Ashok.
As per the police, the accused would call the jewellers, introduce himself as the MD of a big company and ask for gold coins weighing one sovereign each to be given as gifts to the company's employees. He would also ask to bring the coins to a five star hotel. The accused would then reach the hotel to trick the jewellery staff, steal the coins and then escape.
On November 7, he went to a jewellery in Thrissur city and introduced himself as the MD of a big company and ordered seven gold coins weighing one soevereign each. The employees who came to the hotel with the gold coin from the jewelery shop as per the order met this person in the lobby of the hotel who introduced himself as the MD's PA, and left the place after saying he is going to fetch money from his boss. The jewelery employees who were defrauded went to the East Police and filed a complaint.
The accused was arrested by a probe team involving Thrissur East Inspector P. Lalkumar, sub-inspectors AR Nikhil, K Unnikrishnan, shadow police SIs NG Suvrathakumar, PM Rafi, K Gopalakrishnan, P Ragesh, senior civil police officers TV Jeevan, PK Palaniswamy, civil police officers MS Ligesh and KB Vipindas.
