KOZHIKODE: A 19-year-old girl has been nabbed with gold outside the Karipur airport. She has been identified as Shehala, a native of Kasaragod. She concealed the yellow metal worth around Rs one crore brought from Dubai after sewing it in her innerwear.

Shehala landed at Karipur at 10:30 am Sundar morning. No gold was found during customs inspection. She came outside the airport by 11 am. The police had obtained secret information that the woman was smuggling gold. Based on this, the Karipur police conducted an inspection.

The police checked her luggage and interrogated her for hours. No gold was found then. She told police that she had not smuggled any gold. They examined her body. The gold was found hidden in a mixed form in three packets inside her innerwear.

She brought 1884 grams of gold. This is the 86th case of gold smuggling caught by the police outside the Karipur airport. It is hinted that the girl has connection with a Kannur-based quotation gang. Investigation is on as to who sent the gold and for whom it was brought.
