KOCHI: The Telangana High Court has ordered CBI investigation into the case of trying to bribe four Telangana MLAs in a bid to topple the Telangana government. The court also disbanded the special investigation team of Telangana police. The High Court’s order also observed that a CBI investigation is appropriate for a just probe.
There are seven accused persons in the case including BDJS President and convener of NDA in Kerala, Thushar Vellappally and BJP National General Secretary, BL Santhosh. The investigation was transferred to the CBI on the plea by Thushar Vellappally, Ramachandra Bharati, Korai Nandakumar, and Simhayaji.
The High Court’s verdict is a set back to Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao and the ruling party in Telangana. There were five pleas demanding CBI inquiry into the case.
The case pertains to allegation of conspiracy that took place last October at a farm house in Moinabad in Telangana where four MLAs of BRS where offered Rs.100 crores each in a bid to topple the government. Government sources also aired audio clips allegedly that of Thushar Vellappally. Moinabad police registered a case on the complaint of MLA Rohit Reddy.
Following the registration of the case, the special investigation team camped in Kochi and tried to question Thushar Vellappally and a Sanyasi. Three employees of the Sanyasi were taken into custody for questioning and later released. Two notices given to Thushar Vellappally summoning him for questioning were stayed by the Telangana High Court.
