THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A complaint was levelled that a candle was lit in the temple amid allegations of a security breach at the famous Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple. The complaint said that some who came for darshan at Thulabhara Mandapam lit the candles. Following this, the temple executive officer directed an inquiry on the incident. A candle in the shape of an earthen lamp was lit the other day.

Ramachandra Murthy, a native of Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, had booked the poojas of that day. It is suspected that the candle was lit by members of this group. Various devotees' organizations said that it was a serious breach of security when unknown people lit a candle in the temple when worship materials brought in from the temple's tantri madom are even examined. Protests are staged against this.

Devotees are allowed inside the Padmanabha Swamy temple only after strict checking. It is a mystery how the candle was taken inside the temple along with the pooja items. The executive officer informed that a detailed inquiry will be conducted in it.
