NEW DELHI: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has sought legal advice on the chancellor's bill. The Governor sought legal advice from the Standing Consul of the Raj Bhavan. Further action will be taken on the matter after the governor returns to the state on January 3.

The legal advice is to examine whether the law passed by the assembly would remain. The bill is to remove the governor from the post of chancellor of all the fourteen universities. The Governor may return the bill, postpone the decision on it or likely to send it to the President.

The assembly passed the bill to remove the governor from the post of chancellor of the universities in Kerala by calling a special session. The Governor had earlier said that higher education is in the concurrent list and the University Amendment Act needs the Centre's approval.
