THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It is hinted that the incident in which a male friend murdered a 17-year-old girl by slitting her throat in Varkala was out of suspicion. The dead is Sangeetha of Sangeetha Nivas in Vadasserikonam. The incident happened around 1:30 am. Sangeetha's male friend Gopu (20), a native of Pallikkal, has been arrested in the incident.

It is believed that Gopu's suspicion of Sangeetha betraying him led to the murder. The two were in a relationship. The police said in order to build trust on Sangeetha, Gopu used to chat with her as Akhil from another number. He continued his relationship with Sangeetha like that. In the meanwhile, ‘Akhil’ wanted to meet Sangeetha. Sangeetha informed her sister about this and went out of the house last night. Gopu was wearing a helmet. However, seeing him, Sangeetha doubted that it was Gopu. When she asked him to take his helmet, he attacked Sangeetha with the knife he had in his hand.

Meantime, Sangeetha's father Sajeev is still in shock seeing his daughter in a pool of blood. Sajeev said that when he opened the window after hearing someone banging on the door saw his daughter lying on the ground. There was a deep cut injury on her neck. Though she was rushed to the hospital, her life could not be saved.
