THRISSUR: The court sentenced a Christian priest who sexually assaulted the girl during who attended the holy communion preparation class in the parish to imprisonment and fine. Thrissur POCSO fast-track court judge Bindu Sudhakaran sentenced Raju Kokkan (49), a native of Amballur, to rigorous imprisonment. The punishment is imprisonment for seven years and in addition a fine of Rs 50,000.

The incident happened in 2014. Raju Kokkan called the girl who had come to participate in the class and sexually assaulted her. The priest was sentenced to prison after the pictures became crucial evidence in the incident. Other children, teachers and other priests witnessed the incident.
