NEW DELHI: Reports say that Gulab Nabi Azad is returning to the Congress. National media is returning that Congress leaders have spoken with him and the announcement will be made soon. His return to Congress fold comes after four months of leaving the party.
Azad had left Congress in August after criticizing Rahul Gandhi harshly. Following this, he formed Democratic Azad Party based in Kashmir. The main agenda of his party to get the full statehood of Kashmir. Recently, 126 leaders and followers had left the party in retaliation for ousting three main leaders.
After the legislative election in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, Gulab Nabi Azad had congratulated the Congress party. He said that he was not anti-Congress and only had some differences with some of the party’s policies. Following this, senior Congress leader, Digvijay Singh invited Azad to be part of the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Leaders of G23 in Congress such as Akilesh Prasad Singh, and Bhupender Singh had approached Gulab Nabi Azad to persuade him to return to the Grand Old Party. There are reports that the Congress has entrusted Ambika Soni with the task of brining back Azad. There are reports that Gulab Nabi Azad will attend the second phase of Bharat Jodo Yatra, which will being on January 3rd.
