THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC President K Sudhakaran said that the Congress would observe ‘a black day’ on the day Saji Cheriyan is being reinstated into the cabinet. He said that Saji Cheriyan's controversial remark was reported in the media as well and no one had any objection to it, but only the CPM has not yet been able to accept it. Congress leader asked why Saji Cheriyan was resigned from the post if he didn’t violate his oath.
He went on to say that how the decision has changed now and demanded that the CPM should respond to it. Sudhakaran also said that they would observe ‘a black day’ on the day of Cheriyan’s swearing-in. K Sudhakaran’s response came after CPM state secretary MV Govindan confirmed that Saji Cheriyan would be reinstated into the cabinet. He also informed that the swearing-in ceremony would be conducted soon as per the convenience of the Chief Minister and the Governor. The government will inform the governor that the oath can be administered on January 4. MV Govindan also stated that the secretariat has taken a decision in swearing in Saji Cheriyan as a minister.
Saji Cheriyan resigned on July 6 this year. The police had given a report to the court that the case against Cheriyan was closed. The report says that there is no evidence against Saji Cheriyan in the case. The report submitted to the Thiruvalla court also stated that there was no intention to insults the Constitution. Discussions had already started in the CPM to reinstate Cheriyan in the cabinet based on the police report.
