PATHANAMTHITTA: Many who had lunch served for a Baptism function sought treatment for food poisoning. People who attended the function held in Mallappally developed uneasiness, diarrhea and vomiting and sought treatment in various hospitals. The condition of one is stated to be serious.

The function was held at Mallappally St Thomas Church on Thursday. Non-vegetarian food was served for lunch. The food was prepared by a catering unit from Chenganoor. Nearly 190 people had lunch. The people started vomiting and had diarrhea from Friday onwards. Nearly 90 who had lunch sought treatment in hospitals at Adoor, Ranni, Kumbanad.

They suffered food poisoning from the food served. The people who organized the feast said they will lodge a complaint to the concerned authorities. Meantime, the catering unit in Chenganoor said they had served the same food in Parumala and other places. There were no issues there, they said.
