JAMMU: It is reported that the security forces were able to curb terror activities in Kashmir as a result of strict measures since the Modi government came to power. The army killed 172 terrorists in 2022 which includes notorious terrorists as well. They were killed in 93 encounters and many terrorists were also arrested. Around 108 eliminated terrorists belong to Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Pakistan's efforts to lure Kashmiri youth into terrorism are also not succeeding as before. They manage to induce only a few into terrorist activities. The vast majority of those who join in terrorism this way will soon become victims.
The main reason for the current situation of Kashmir is the strict measures of the central government. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has suggested that measures should be taken to safeguard the welfare of the common people in the valley and demanded strict adherence to the zero-tolerance policy against terrorism. "A terror ecosystem comprising elements that aid, abet and sustain the terrorist-separatist campaign to the detriment of the well-being of common people requires to be dismantled," said Shah.
