THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Seven people died in road accidents in various places in the state last day. Two youths died after their bike collided with a police jeep in Alappuzha, two were killed as a bike hit behind a lorry in Thiruvalla, another two died in accidents at Enathu and Pandalam, and a soldier died in a bike accident in Kilimanoor.

Two youths died after a police jeep collided with their bike in Thalavady. The dead have been identified as Justin of Kottayam and Alex of Kumarakom. The police vehicle which was coming from the opposite side hit their bike. Only the driver was in the police jeep at the time of the incident. He was returning after dropping the DySP at home. The accident happened Sunday morning at 3.30 am. The reports that came in said the driver dosing off led to the accident. The youths that met with the accident were returning home after the New Year bash at Alappuzha beach. The bodies of the two are kept at the Alappuzha taluk hospital. The jeep driver has been suspended.

Arun Kumar (29), son of Ravindranath of Kunnanthanam Arun Nivas, and Shyamraj (27), son of Rajendran, of Kottayam Chingavanam, died in an accident at 1.15 am yesterday at the railway station road junction on the Thiruvalla bypass. Arunkumar died on the spot and Shyamraj who was seriously injured died after being rushed to the hospital. They are employees of Reliance Trends Shop in Ramanchira, Thiruvalla.

A young soldier died in an accident in the capital city. He has been identified as Aromal (25) of Pulimath in Kilimanoor. The accident happened after the bike in which he was travelling overturned losing control.

Aromal reached his hometown to see his father recuperating after an accident. He met with the accident amidst this. Though the locals rushed Aromal, who sustained serious injuries to the hospital, his life could not be saved. His body is in the mortuary. After post-mortem, his relatives and army will receive the body.

Thulasidharan Pillai (63) of Thulasimandiram, Elangamangalam died after the bike rammed into post losing control at Enathu, Adoor.

In Pandalam, CD Pramod (48) of Vadakethil, Venmony was killed after his cycle collided with a bike. Kiran (20) and his brother Harish (24), who were traveling on the bike, were injured. They were admitted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.
