pre-primary

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Even after two court verdicts, pre-primary employees are not getting pension or other benefits. Most of them are still working without retiring even after crossing 70 years of age.

Most of the 600 pre-primary teachers and Aayas are between 56 and 70 age. Even though they have health issues due to their age they are still working because they do not have pension or other service benefits. Those who are working for 30 to 40 years wish to get retired. It is the desire of pre-primary employees to fix the pension for aged persons and allow them to retire.

The Education Department had refused to give into the pension demand saying that it is the PTA that is appointing the employees. In August, 2012, the High Court had ordered giving the benefits according to service salary rules. But it is not still implemented. Two Commissions were appointed.

Pre-primary teachers’ organization accuse that the government is neglecting the employees’ demands by saying that fund is not available.
