THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Governor is likely to seek an explanation from the chief minister today over the swearing in of Saji Cherian. In the wake of getting legal advice, the Governor may take a decision today. The governor's legal advisor advocate S Gopakumaran Nair had advised him not to take a hasty decision in giving permission for the swearing in of Saji Cherian.
Governor Arif Mohammdd Khan, who returned to Thiruvananthapuram yesterday, has stated that the details of Saji Cherian's speech in contempt of the Constitution will be examined. With this, the possibility of swearing-in tomorrow has faded.
The legal advice to the governor has mentioned that there is no urgent situation to make him take the oath and the governor can decide on the swearing-in after fully convinced that the court has completely acquitted Saji Cherian of the charges.
