NEW DELHI: More information is out in the incident of dragging a girl for 12 kilometers after hit by a car during New Year celebrations in Sultanpuri. A police investigation found that 20-year-old Anjali was pillion riding her friend Nidhi, when the car hit her scooty. Nidhi sustained minor injuries and fled the place out of fear.
The police tracked her last evening and her statement will be recorded today. Her initial statement is that the incident was an accident. More information was obtained when the police were preparing a route map to get a clarity on what happened then. The investigation found the two left a hotel after attending a New Year’s party. Her other friends who attended the party will be questioned.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah asked police commissioner Sanjay Arora to submit a report after a detailed investigation. Shah demanded the report after seeking information via phone. Special commissioner Shalini Singh will lead the investigation. Lt Governor V K Saxena has also sought a report.
A case has been registered on five charging with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, rash driving and causing death by negligence. The arrested have been remanded for three days. They will be questioned in detail. The crime will be re-created using a dummy. The police believe that the accused did hear the sound from outside due to the loud music kept in the car. The car will be subjected for a forensic examination. Whether she was sexually assaulted will also be probed. A clarity would be obtained only after getting the post mortem report. The post mortem was conducted by the medical board entrusted by Delhi Government.
