NEW DELHI: Although the Supreme Court will hear the central government's petition on the buffer zone issue on January 11th, it is unlikely to consider the review petition filed earlier by Kerala along with it.
As a result, Kerala has gained additional time to include information about populated areas in the preliminary report created using satellite survey. Concerns were raised in the state after it was reported that the pleas of the Centre and the state would be considered together. There were concerns that the state would not be able to provide the apex court with accurate information about the populated areas in the buffer zone before that. That is why the last date for filing the complaint was fixed as January 7 and the field inspection was expedited. With the state gaining more days, it is hoped that the information on the buildings can be included through the mobile application by conducting a field inspection before the apex court considers the case.
Three days to file complaints
Only three more days are left to file complaints. 26,030 complaints have been filed till Tuesday. 18 of them have been resolved. Field testing is in full swing. No complaints have been received from Mulavukad Panchayat and Cochin Corporation in Ernakulam district. Efforts are being made to reach all the locations within a week and include asset information through the Asset Mapper application. It has been decided to submit the satellite survey report if the field inspection is not completed before Kerala's petition is considered. The state will inform the court that there are many populated areas in the region and steps are being taken by setting up a help desk to collect its information. The state will seek more time to complete the field inspection and submit it to the court including the survey number.
