KOTTAYAM: The post-mortem report says that the nurse who fell sick after eating hotel food died of an infection in the internal organs. Reshmi Raj (33), a nurse at Kottayam Medical College, died the other day after eating Alfahm from Hotel Park Malappuram Kuzhimanthi in Sankranthi in Kottayam. Reshmi is the wife of Thiruvananthapuram Plamoottukada native Vinod Kumar.

The liver, kidney, and lungs of Reshmi were all infected. The chemical test result should be obtained to determine the type of infection. Body fluids were sent to the pathology and microbiology lab for testing. Ratheesh, Deputy Superintendent of the Medical College, said that it can be confirmed that Reshmi died of food poisoning only after receiving the results. The body, which was kept at the medical college mortuary, was handed over to the relatives after post-mortem. The body was later taken to Reshmi's home in Kiliroor. Several people came to her house to bid her a tearful adieu. The body was cremated at around 4 pm.

Reshmi, who was staying in the nursing hostel, ordered food from the restaurant and ate it on December 29. After experiencing abdominal pain, diarrhoea and vomiting at night, she sought treatment at the District General Hospital. However, as her condition worsened, she was shifted to the Medical College Hospital. Although she underwent dialysis on Monday morning, she died. Around 20 people who ate from the same restaurant felt unwell and sought treatment at various hospitals.

Lapse on part of Medical College as well

The hospital authorities had not informed the police about food poisoning after Reshmi sought treatment at Medical College. As a result, the Gandhi Nagar police were not able to record Reshmi's statement before her death.
