THIRUVALLA: The court rejected the plea of advocate Baiju Noel filed at the Thiruvalla Judicial First-Class Magistrate Court in the case of Minister Saji Cherian’s alleged remarks against the constitution. Baiju Noel had approached the high court demanding an investigation in the situation where the police had given a report to the court stating that there was no unconstitutional reference in the speech. Until a decision is taken, the plea requested not to consider the plea filed by the police and not to reject the plea filed against Saji Cherian.
Meantime, BJP president K Surendran alleged that his ministership has blown away all democratic decencies. He also stated that the BJP will initiate legal action against Saji Cherian's ministry.
Saji Cherian, who had to resign in July last year after being accused of disrespecting the constitution, was sworn in as minister again yesterday. When Governor Arif Mohammed Khan administered the oath of office at the Raj Bhavan Auditorium, Saji read with special emphasis the phrase of sincere loyalty and allegiance to the Constitution. None of the opposition leaders attended the function.
After taking the oath, he reached his office on the fourth floor of Annexe 1 and assumed charge. He got the same office used before his resignation. The minister said the governor and the head of the government are one and the same. The minister said the differences of opinion will be resolved through discussions and move forward.
