KOLLAM: The police are examining the possibility of murder in the incident where a woman was found dead in the railway quarters near Chemmam Mukku in Kollam. The commissioner informed that further steps will be taken after receiving the post-mortem report.

The police said the doctors informed that something was found stuck in her throat. The police have presently registered a case of unnatural death.

Meantime, the police collected evidence with the accused Nazu (24), a native of Anchal, arrested in the case. Evidence was collected at Kollam beach and the place where the woman's body was found. He is an accused in cases including POCSO.

Uma Prasannan (32), was staying in a rented house at Mamood near Mundankara Madan Temple at Kottankara in Elampalloor. The accused and the woman met a few days ago. Both reached Kollam beach on December 29 and then went to an abandoned railway quarters. In his statement, the accused told police that she developed seizure during sex and so he left there and went. He also told police that he inflicted injuries on her body using a blade.

The naked body was found lying on the floor in the back room of the quarters. The body had deep wounds on the left side of her head and below her right breast which was ten centimetres long. The blood on the floor was found dried up. The body was found during an inspection after a foul smell emanated from the quarters.
