NEW DELHI: Delhi Police on Thursday said that two more people were involved in the horrific incident that took place in Delhi's Khanjawala on New Year's night in which a 20-year-old died after the scooter she was riding was hit by a car and dragged for a few kilometers under the wheels. Addressing a press conference, Special Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Delhi Police Sagar Preet Hooda said that the two are Ashutosh, the owner of the car, and Ankush, the brother of one of the accused. He said the two suspects would be arrested soon.
Police have obtained scientific evidence which reveals the involvement of Ashutosh and Ankush in the crime. Police said that the two attempted to tamper with the evidence as they tried to help the accused. A total of 18 teams of Delhi Police are investigating the case.
So far, the police have taken five people into custody in connection with the incident. They are Deepak Khanna, Manoj Mittal, Amit Khanna, Krishan and Mithun. The accused had initially told the police that Deepak Khanna was the one who drove the car. During the interrogation, it was found that the car was driven by Amit and not by Deepak. The police also found out that Amit did not have a driving license.
