THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet meeting has decided to recommend Governor Arif Mohammad Khan to convene the eighth session of the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly on 23rd of this month with the Governor's policy address. The session will last until February 10. The assembly will not meet on the 24th. On Jan 25, February 1 and 2 there will be a discussion on Governor's policy address. On February 3, Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal will present the budget. This is the third budget of the second Pinarayi government.
The general debate on the budget on February 6, 7 and 8. The assembly will adjourn temporarily on the 10th after completing other financial procedures. It will meet convene at the end of February and pass the complete budget by March 31.
On Wednesday, the cabinet meeting decided to inform the governor that the seventh session of the Legislative Assembly, which ended on 13th of last month, is adjourned with the conclusion that the governor should not be provoked further. After the governor signed the file, a notification was issued that the seventh session was over. After that, the special cabinet meeting held yesterday morning decided to recommend to the governor to convene the assembly session from 23rd.
The cabinet meeting appointed a cabinet sub-committee under the leadership of Finance Minister KN Balagopal to prepare a draft of the policy address. Ministers K. Rajan, Roshi Augustine, K. Krishnankutty and AK Saseendran are the other members. The draft policy announcement will be considered in the next cabinet meeting.
