NEW DELHI: Kerala government's petition fighting the high court decision to annul the Kerala university fisheries vice chancellor appointment has earned a response from the Supreme Court. A bench consisting of chief justice D Y CHandrachud and justice PV Narasimha considered the petition.

The notice to the defendants in the case has been long issued by the apex court after former VC Dr. K Riji John filed a petition seeking a change from the high court orders citing his appointment as invalid. Meanwhile, Riji’s lawyer Jayanth Muthuraj requested the apex court to not issue any notice over the petition filed by Former CUSAT professor G Sadasivan Nair, who questioned the observations of the high court that confirmed Rijil John’s credentials eligible for him to be VC. All the petitions will be considered on January 13, the apex court informed.
