THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The tragic news of the suicide of a three-member family in Kadinamkulam here was another story of debt-related deaths. According to the relatives of the deceased, the family had a debt of around Rs 12 lakh. The amount including interest and penalty interest was paid.

After selling their house and property, they repaid the money to those who filed a case against them. But some other individuals who gave hand loans did not sue. The family tried to take a loan to repay this money, which didn't materialize. Reportedly the family of three including Rameshan, his wife Sulaja Kumar, and daughter Reshma committed suicide due to this.

All three were found charred to death in the bedroom of the house. In the adjacent room were Sulaja Kumari's parents. But they could not save them. At around 12 midnight, the neighbours heard the sound of breaking windows and saw the fire spreading from the room. They rushed here immediately but the house was locked from the inside. They managed to break the front door and enter but were unable to enter the bedroom. Although they poured water inside through the window, the three died soon after.
